Spring sports are here! If you play any sports this season like track, baseball, and lacrosse, AFC wants to offer tips to avoiding injuries.
Before you participate in a sport, there are some things you should do to prepare first. If you have been inactive for weeks to months leading up to the season, it is generally a good idea to condition your body for strenuous physical activity. You should also, if not required, have a physical performed. The doctor performing the physical can screen for existing or potential future problems that may hinder participation.
During the sport season, it is a good idea to maintain a healthy diet and stay hydrated. Avoid eating before a game or practice, at least three hours. Before, during, and after a meet, game, or practice, drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration and subsequent injuries.
If you are in need of treatment for a sports injury or a sports physical, we can help. AFC Urgent Care’s physicians can treat your injuries and can perform necessary physicals. Visit us today at 161 Boston Ave in Bridgeport CT or call 203-333-4400.
