We thought we had it beat. Measles, the once thought to be conquered virus, has recently returned to Connecticut and New York, with 2 unrelated confirmed cases right in Fairfield County, many more in New York. Here at AFC Bridgeport we want you to keep you informed, as measles is highly contagious and one can go for 4 days before showing any signs of having the virus.
Measles symptoms can include cold-like symptoms, a stuffy nose, red eyes, fever and most notably a distinctive rash that can form at the hairline and often pops up on the soles of the feet or the palms. The MMR vaccine, measles, mumps, rubella is the vaccination that prevents the virus and can be used to treat if caught within the first 72 hours.
